So I think I have the hardest part of writing a book done. The labor-intensive plotting, drafting, rewriting, rereading, back to rewriting and more rereading. Then the editor gets her hands on it and more editing, rewriting, and rereading. It's like giving birth.
Now the draft is in its final edits and I'm just waiting for the ARC.
You would *think* that's the hardest part. Trust me. It ain't.
It's hard enough writing the book jacket, condensing the entire plot into a few paragraphs that are compelling enough to drive a complete stranger to say, "Hey, I want to read that!" Yes, that's hard.
You would *think* that's the hardest part. Trust me. It ain't.
Because now I have to write a log line, condensing the entire plot into 1 - 3 sentences.
"Pishaw!" say you. "How hard can that be?"
The Reaper's Kiss, coming out next month, has 3 main characters and 3 separate story lines. It's like writing 3 log lines, one for each story line. It sucks, quite honestly, especially for someone like me who dreads these short writing exercises.
I suppose that's why I'm writing a blog spot this morning instead of concentrating on my log line. Procrastination at its best.
Ah, well. Time to put my thinking cat on and go to work!
