Why?
Some simple facts:
1. Americans use 500 MILLION plastic straws a day. That's enough to circle the earth 25 times.
A DAY.
2. It takes 200 YEARS for one plastic straw to decompose.
3. Plastic straws are #11 in the most common ocean trash list.
4. Each year, 1 MILLION seabirds and 100,000 THOUSAND marine animals die from ingesting plastic. I've seen the pictures. They're too graphic to post here, so I won't because I find it too disturbing.
I'm not a big fan of fish, or other creatures that live in the ocean, but I don't like the thought that one seemingly simple act tortures these living beings or kills them. I've always used that straw that came with my beverage without a second thought. Now every time I see a plastic straw, I have LOTS of thoughts! None of them good. Yep, I've joined the ban on plastic straws.
So, when will your next straw be your last?
