I have the cover Blood Tied, the 4th and last installment of the Last Moon Rising series. It's so awesome, but I'm not ready to reveal just quite yet. It'll be worth the wait, trust me. And just received the manuscript back from my copy editor, who is also my friend. Yay, Chrissie! So now busy, busy, busy with rewriting and polishing, and the book will be released the last week in September. Yes, I'm so excited to finish this series, yet a little sad, too. These characters have been with me for 15 years as I wrote the books, and it'll be odd saying good-bye.

Okay, so Blood Tied is soon to be released, and my cover designer asked for the dreaded book jacket text. Argh! Why are these just the devil to write? Sometimes I read a book jacket and I simply swoon. There are obviously people who are extremely gifted in summing up a book in a few, reader-enticing paragraphs. Me? Not so much. I struggle, and struggle, and struggle. Start and stop. Throw it out. Start and stop all over. Of course, my cover designer asked for this *weeks* ago. I probably should stop pissing and moaning and get writing! It's going to be a busy summer season for me! I'm writing, and I'm writing hard. It's times like these, when I have so much writing I want to do, that I curse the full-time-job. Curses! I'm finishing up the last installment of Last Moon Rising, #4 (Blood Tied). I've decided to change up the ending a bit, and think I'm liking this new approach! Hope you all do too, when you read it. My cover is almost ready, and I can't wait to see that! My cover designer is pretty pleased with what she's done, so of course that makes it all so exciting. Originally planned on releasing Blood Tied in the spring, but now it looks like it may be August, due to some unexpected delays. Now that Kiss Me Dead is out there, I've begun outlining the next book, which will feature William, one of the sub-characters in KMD. If you've read it, you know that there is way more to William than meets the eye. I simply can't wait to crack his hard shell and see what's inside! So, over the weekend I worked on the 2nd round of edits from my editor at Soul Mate Publishing. Kim. Is. Awesome. I always liked my story (of course, I'm biased), but now I *love* my story. Kim had so many brilliant insights and suggestions, really working me to dig deep into my characters emotions. There were times when I was overwhelmed and wasn't sure if I could do it. I'm happy to say, I did it! The first round was definitely the hardest. It took me over a week, and at one point I simply walked away from my computer in frustration and decided to sleep on it (the problem I was having). I woke up at 3 the following morning, eyes wide open, and mentally screaming "I know what to do to fix it!" Mentally screaming, because I didn't want to wake up my husband with the insane ramblings of a mad woman. :) Second round I was able to finish in 2 days. Kim's approved, and off we go to the next step. I think that's the galley proof, but to be honest, I'm not sure, since I'm a total newb here. I'll keep posting on the road to publication. Squee! Okay, so the bad news is KMD's release is delayed until May. That's okay I can deal, because in a way that's good news. Why, you ask? Well, the answer is simple. I'm a little nervous about the launch, not sure what to do or what I should do or what I need to do to make it successful. I'm nervous about the whole damn thing, really. Argh! So the month delay is good news as it gives me more time to formulate a game plan, get my ducks in a row, and hurl myself out of the gate and into the waiting arms of readers. Smiles all around! I had one of those super-productive weekends. I wrote several chapters for Blood Tied (Last Moon Rising #4). The final book in this series is almost at its end. I'm on a roll, and I find it very annoying I have to break the flow and actually go to work. Boo! Hiss! Hopefully, at the end of the day, I won't be too burned out to continue writing.
Because, man, it's getting to the good part! I just found out that Soul Mate Publishing has scheduled the release date for Kiss Me Dead, and it looks like it will be April. That's so close! I'm super-excited, and am doing my little happy dance. Squee! More work to be done first though, with blurbs and author picture (which I'm dreading since my hairstylist hasn't been able to get my hair right in months....ach!), and all those little things that go with releasing a book. But I ain't complaining. (How's that for grammar?) *grins* Happy new year! I hope everyone has an exciting and adventurous 2014.
We ended 2013 with whimper and a prayer. A chimney fire in the morning, which we were able to put out ourselves without having to call the fire department...and the house is fine. And then a septic issue, which to date is still unresolved. Might need to call the professionals for this one! Sounds like we're going to start January with a snow storm. February will see me officially join the "over 50" table, April should be the release dates for my next 2 books: Kiss Me Dead, through my new publisher Soul Mate Publishing, and then Blood Tied, the 4th and last installment to the Last Moon Rising series. I'm ready to move on from the YA fantasy crowd to meet some new adult paranormal peeps...and also have plans to write something in the adult market. I have this idea that druids can be very sexy. :) We have plans over the summer to build an addition to our house...so *that's* exciting! It should be a busy and fascinating year ahead of us. Let's get started! |
